I'd prefer an older sister any day - they taste better.

Why would a young sister marry an old brother?
by JH ini recall a ms brother about 62 years old dating and marrying a sister about 30 years younger.
i respect their choice and if they are in love, well good for them.
but i don't think it's to the best interest of the younger one...... do jw's accept bigger age differences in marriage than other religions?.

Totally blinded by the theory that in the new system they will grow to the same age.
Clearly he's a perv and she's mad.
Look around your hall, it takes all sorts.
Not a normal person in sight.

Will this Christmas be your first one?
by lfcviking inok so its only october so maybe this is a bit early.
but for me this is my 2nd year out of the org and i am looking forward to celebrating it again this year just like last year.. isn't it geat that we can join in with this celebration with the rest of the participating world!.
and no guilt feelings of being involved in a pagan celebration, over-indulging a bit, getting drunk a bit and enjoying yourself.. will this year's christmas be a first one for some people here since they have left the org?.

Just be careful. Rules that govern situations like this seem to be created locally.
In short, elders will do what ever they want and re-write the scriptures to support their actions.
My advice is to keep a low profile, say nothing negative and enjoy what limited association you can with your parents.
If you're not bothered about your family then I suggest you wait until the next C/o vist and go to the public talk naked with a banana up your bottom shouting "I'd like to confess my wrong doing, would two witnesses like to come and watch".
That should bring matters to a conclusion rather swiftly.
Just my humble opinion. Some may agree some may disagree.

Anyone else get baptised at BOWES ROAD North London?
by nicolaou inare you my bowes rd buddy?.

Oh yes. Got dunked there along with my mate. We thought it was a good idea at the time. No chance of pulling sisters if you're not dunked. A lot of us had the same attitude and for some strange reason, over a 5 year period a whole generation of us got disfellowshipped. Bowes Road in our circuit was known as the "meat market" in my younger days.
Sadly I'm the only one who got back out of about 12 yoofs in our congregation. Just shows how well the shunning arrangement works. It's supposed to bring erring ones to their senses. I suppose it does in a way. They've got the sense to stay out !!!
Anyway, I was there 2 weeks ago for a whole day of drone.
The circuit was commended for it's service report and the fact that there are 99 regular pioneers in our part of the circuit working very very hard.
How hard?
Well, there were two baptized at our assembly!!!!!!!!!!!! (normally about 10 and back in the day 20+)
Both sisters baptized were introduced and named personally by the speaker. How sad.
Both were children raised in the troof.
So what have the 99 pioneers been doing in the field? The slow slow pioneer walk coupled with the knock gently gently in case we have to speak to someone routeen?
I run a business and if my marketing campaign produced such poor results from such hard work and effort, I'd sack my marketing director and write off the money spent as a hard lesson in what not to do.
I'm told the increase this service year is 3.2% as opposed to the 2% last year. Everyone's gonna go wild at the influx of righteous hearted deserving ones.
Oh how I wish I could erase this all from my mind. It has tainted any hope I may have had at worshipping my creator.

How many elders did this?
by Bumble Bee in5go had a thread here - the service overseer nearly cried from the podium that mentioned something i never realized, elders having to chip in from their own pockets to cover expenses.. how many elders here had to do that, and what was the average amount and frequency that you had to make up the shortfalls?.

We dont need to dip in to our pockets.
We have £15000 in our congo account even though our sister congo is struggling to raise money to replace their 60 year old hall (while we enjoy our 3 year old quick build he he).
Perhaps they should pray harder and have more faith then they will be blessed as much as we have been.
Oh, and our African brothers are starving but at least we provide them with Watchtowers which they can use instead of fire wood to keep themsleves warm in the evening.

I just can't shake this feeling about the word Jehovah, and Now I know why
by A-Team inhad to do a little historic research to find out that jehovah is actually 2 hebrew words compounded: yah(h) and hovah.
yah(h) means: "i exist," "i am," "i create," or "i will be or bring into being.
hovah means: ruin, mischif, but yet,it's root, havvah, translates as: "calamity, iniquity, mischief, mischievous (thing), naughtiness, naughty, noisome, perverse thing, substance, very wickedness.

All I can say is if my Dad called me up and I said "Hi Mike" he'd be rather upset that I called him by his first name rather than Dad.

URGENT - UK Elders (or elders wives)
by S EIGHT ini am in urgent need of a copy of a letter sent to uk elders in regard to weddings held at the kh and specific comments about the responsibilities of the brother giving the wedding talk.
i'm told this is a fairly recent letter.. we have an elder kicking up hell about innactive ones who want to come and watch the wedding.
he happens to be the one giving the talk and is acting like he has full control on this wedding.

The sad thing about this, is that all involved including the elder and the inactive ones are part of the same family.
Thanks for all your posts. Hopefully someone will have to hand the most recent letter on this subject. It seemS that it will be post 2002.
Thanks.
